How do we cope when everything feels outside of our control?
An important topic we wanted to bring up today.
Human beings are wired for certainty. It is a fundamental human need.
We like to feel safe and secure knowing that we have control of our lives.
But with so much uncertainty in the world right now, I wanted to share some simple ways to stay calm in the unknown.
1. Acceptance over resistance.
Practising acceptance during hard times is not easy; however, it is also the most effective way to move forward. From here, we can choose how we want to respond in a far more empowering way, instead of wishing the situation was different.
2. Prioritise self-care.
Every day, do something that makes you feel good. Exercise, meditate, read, walk in nature, eat healthy foods.
Health is the foundation of happiness.
3. Focus on what you can control.
We can't always change the things around us, but we can choose how we respond. Make a list of all the things you can control each day, you will be surprised at just how much you can influence.
4. Give yourself grace
Now is not the time to be criticising yourself. Instead, focus on what you have achieved each day and what you are proud of.
