"I was Frozen with Anxiety" A Story of Start-Up Success. 20 Years Shaping Companies and Empowering Women with Australia's Leading Entrepreneur, Jodie Imam
"I was holding back the tears, and they were like, oh, I thought it was just me, but all the girls had the same anxiety."
Jodie Imam is the co-founder and co-CEO of Tractor Ventures, with over 20 years of experience running companies. She transitioned from the corporate and telco sectors to fashion, managing multinational labels. Her entrepreneurial journey includes founding Occasional Butler, a marketplace for small jobs, and establishing depot8, one of Melbourne's first shared office spaces.
Despite facing challenges, such as the impact of COVID-19 on depot8, Jodie remains an active participant in the startup community, contributing through mentoring and ecosystem work. Her collaboration with Matt Allen led to the creation of Tractor Ventures, which has grown to 16 team members and deployed over $20 million in funds to support more than 70 startups.
In the podcast, Jodie shares her experiences, insights into entrepreneurship, and thoughts on the startup landscape. From addressing anxiety among young women to empowering them in the tech industry, she discusses her passion for supporting women in business.
Her commitment to empowering women and building a foundation for financial independence adds depth to the narrative, making her a prominent figure in the startup and venture capital space.
